Everybody pays at the gate, including drivers and pitman
NO REFUNDS
1. Each driver must fill out an Entry Form. Limit of 2 entries per person, per open class. Drivers must be 17 years of age or older.
2. The event is open to both men and women.
3. The Track or Promoter reserves the right to approve or reject all entries at their discretion.
4. Arguing with the Track Officials will result in a 1 year suspension. Fighting will result in a 1 year suspension.
5. Only drivers, mechanics, etc. who have signed a release sheet will be allowed in the pit area or on the track.
6. No cars are permitted in the competition area before the heat in which they are to participate in.
7. The Promoter, Track Owner, or Fair Association, will not be held responsible for any cars, parts, or personal property before, during, or after the show or overnight.
8. A limit of one service vehicle per derby is allowed in the pit area.
9. Safety equipment must be in the Pit Area (ie jack, stands, fire extinguishers)
Type of Car
1. Any American made stock, hardtop automobile or station wagon or 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton truck.NO 4x4 trucks NO 3/4 ton or 1 ton trucks .. No convertibles, jeeps, hearses, or limousines. Also this year NO Chrysler Imperials will be allowed .Crown victoria's must have original aluminum saddle and original upper control arms.(car must be stock no modifications other than engine swap.)
2. Stock factory made rear ends that were factory equipment and came with your vehicle are permitted,no swaping complete rear axle. posi traction and limited slip differentials and Welding of spider gears, etc etc to achive full posi is the only modification allowed.No external modification of axle housing.
Car Preparation
The following must be removed BEFORE arriving at the fairgrounds or Track.
1. All glass, including windshield, rear window, side windows, head and tail lights. Rolling down windows is NOT acceptable. All broken glass must be removed from the doors and the interior of the car.
2. Chrome molding strips must be removed.
3. Any sharp, protruding fins or dangerous objects must be mashed down, or cut off, including roof fins, or visors.
4. Bumper and brackets can be welded to vehicle on V8’s and TRUCKS ONLY.
NO WELDING OF ANY TYPE WILL BE PERMITTED ON ANY 4 CYL 6 CYL OR MINI VAN.
5. Chained down engine mounts are recommended.but not mandatory.ONLY CHAIN.
6. Radiators, transmission coolers and heaters must remain in original position or be removed.
7. Only driver’s door can be welded for driver’s safety, 3x3 plates, 4 spots maximum. All other doors, hood and trunk must be fastened with wire; excessive use of wire to be determined by Officials.
8. No spring jacks, blocked shocks or reversed shackles are permitted and suspension must be free of blocks. Springs and shocks must remain stock.CAR MUST MOVE DOWN AND UP WHEN OFFICIALS INSPECT CAR. Steering must also remain stock.
9. Only one automotive battery is allowed and must be secured on the front passenger floor and covered.( if we can move it your not going in the ring.)
10. Hood MUST be fastened down in 4 places. Trunk of tailgate must be fastened in 4 places. Officials can decide on over use of wire. It is recommended that the hood and trunk lid springs be removed.
11. Only the driver’s door must be painted white and left blank for numbering. Special numbers are permitted, but only with pre-approval from the Demolition Derby Chairman.
12. No white cars – this is a safety issue and will be strictly adhered to.
13. NO STOCK GAS TANKS; must be old style boat can or fuel cell. NO exceptions.IF YOUR FUEL CELL IS PLASTIC IT MUST BE INSIDE A STEEL BOX THAT IS ALSO SECURLY MOUNTED.If we can move your tank your not going in the ring.
14. Vehicles must be swept clean, no junk, tires, wheels, metal part, etc. are allowed in the inside. Cars will be disqualified unless spotless.
15. Each car must be signed in and inspected at the track at least 1 hour prior to show time. Late arrivals will be Track Official’s decision.
16. It is recommended that the Driver’s door be reinforced with a steel bar, or angle iron pipe. Length not to exceed more than 8” on either side of door.
17. A mandatory 16” minimum opening must be cut in the centre of the hood over the carburetor, or removed.
18. Only automotive 4-ply (P) series tires are allowed.Tires must have ply ratings on them or they will not be allowed to run.No greasing of any tire at any time,
19. A strong wire or nylon mesh screen is recommended on the driver’s window and windshield area. Scatter shields are also recommended.
20. All wheel weights must be removed.
21. Sun visors and mirrors must be removed.
22. All transmissions must be rubber mounted and crossmembers will not provide any additional strength to car.
23. Changing the linkage for gearshift is allowed as long as there is a 1-foot high shifter coming out of the floor. Putting a direct bar or shifter to the transmission is allowed.
24. Brakes must work upon inspection by Official.
25. Sunroofs must be removed and covered up with steel plate, securely fastened down.
26. Headers will be allowed only if they are pointed straight up, or under the car.
27. Wheel wells can be cut or bent for clearance but not welded or bolted anywhere.
28. Any automotive car bumper may be used on V8’s only. NO TRUCK BUMPERS ON CARS.
Competing
1. A safety belt, Z-90 approved helmet and approved goggles are required. The helmet can be full or open-faced. Goggles or face shield must be clear.Workboots ,pants or coveralls along with gloves are reccommended (NO SHORTS OR SANDLES PERIOD)
2. Drivers may maneuver forward or backwards. Deliberate hitting on the drivers door will not be tolerated.
3. Vehicles must have dependable and sufficient brakes at all times.
4. Boundaries must be observed.
5. NO drinking ALCOHOLIC beverages on Track, Emergency Vehicle Area, or in Pit Area. Any driver or pitman under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be IMMEDIATELY disqualified and removed from the ground, along with a 2 year ban or re-entering will be given. The vehicle will also be disqualified. A Breathalyzer test will be given to any individual in question in the pit area.
6. A vehicle will be disqualified should the driver’s door come open during a heat or if helmet comes off, or if Official’s decide your car is no longer safe to continue.
7. A 1 minute time limit for restarts and a 1 minute time limit for making competitive contact with another vehicle will be enforced by the Track Officials. Hits must be aggressive, contact within time limit does not constitute combat and should be considered sandbagging.
8. A $100.00 protest fee is required to contest another vehicle. This will be awarded to the person in the right of the claim. No large groups to approach cars in questions. Plus a one year suspension could be given.
9. The Derby will be composed of individual heats and one feature. The winner of each heat will win a cash prize and a Trophy. Winners of each heat advance to the feature. The winner of the Feature will win the Grand Prize and Trophy. Competitors can enter the Grudge Match ($20.00 fee) with the winner taking all and advancing to the Feature. Decisions of the Official Judge will be FINAL!
ADDITIONAL RULES
These rules supersede any and all rules previously issued.
1. Pitmen are required to sign a waiver and must wear a tag to identify what car they are associated with. Pitmen are under the same rules and regulations as the drivers and any unacceptable behaviour (consuming drugs or alcohol, arguing, etc.) will result in disqualification from the Derby. No one under 16 will be issued a pit pass.
2. Wire only! No chains.
3. Excess of wire to be determined by Officials.
4. Air bags must be disarmed or removed.
5. Double Tires are not allowed, if caught with double tires at any time you will be disqualified. Tubed tires are acceptable.
6. Body mounts must remain stock, hardware can be changed but must remain stock size
7. No frame repairs allowed. If it is broke or bent that’s the way it runs
8. Pre-derbied cars are allowed, it will be Official’s decision if they are too bent to compete.
9. Post to Post bar is acceptable, cannot connect to frame. Dash bars and door bars are acceptable but no mandatory in all classes.
10. No engine protectors, distributor protectors or sliding shafts.
11. 4 cyl and 6 cyl cars will be stock. Plastic bumper covers will be removed.
12. No crimping,to trunk tucking,no moving hoods from original position, or pre-bending cars in any way.
13. Gas engines only due to safety concerns for fire detection.
